Dr. Kristin Thornback

Ph.D., C.Psych.

Clinical Director

I have a particular focus on empowering parents to support their own children, and do so by teaching them about the power of emotions.

I am a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience providing assessment, treatment, and consultation to children, teens, and families, and training and supervision to psychology students.

My clinical approach is to individualize treatment such that I assess whether an emotional, cognitive (thinking), behavioural, or most often integrated, approach would be most helpful. As such, I draw from a range of evidence-based treatment models.

I have been working full-time in private practice since 2016. In addition to my work at Young Minds Psychology, I am a supervising clinical psychologist with the Family Psychology Centre, providing clinical supervision for students and early-career clinicians.

Prior to that I held positions at Markham Stouffville-Hospital, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre (now The SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and Peel Children’s Centre.
