Dr. Kristin Thornback

Ph.D., C.Psych.

Clinical Director

I have a particular focus on empowering parents to support their own children, and do so by teaching them about the power of emotions. Whether working with parents, or their children/teens directly, my clinical approach is to individualize treatment such that I assess whether an emotional, cognitive (thinking), behavioural, or most often integrated, approach would be most helpful. As such, I draw from a range of evidence-based treatment models.

I am a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience providing assessment, treatment, and consultation to children, teens, and families.

In my role as Clinical Director, I am a supervising clinical psychologist at Young Minds Psychology, providing supervision and clinical guidance to students and early-career clinicians.

I have been working in private practice since 2016. Prior to that I held positions at Markham Stouffville-Hospital, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre (now The SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and Peel Children’s Centre.
